About the Speakers:

Melanie Boatswain-Watson, 
Communications Officer, Toronto Public Library 

Melanie has been Library People all of her life and considers herself incredibly fortunate to support and share everything TPL does for the city’s residents. Her communications work includes rolling out the library’s new brand, contributing to its social media presence and supporting children’s services initiatives. Before joining the communication team, Melanie delivered frontline service in several TPL branches, and especially enjoyed leading family storytimes. 

Liz Gildner, MA
Change Manager, Toronto Public Library

Liz Gildner, MA is an accomplished change management and organization development practitioner who utilizes a highly collaborative and participative approach to support, measure, and sustain successful implementations of key change initiatives. Liz has been an HR and Organization Development (OD) and Change Management Consultant in both unionized and non-unionized environments. Liz is Toronto Public Library’s first change manager and she is the author of TPL’s Change Management Strategy. 

Shelley McKay
Communications Manager, Hamilton Public Library 

Shelley McKay is a marketing and fundraising executive with 25 years of communications leadership with organizations across the US and Canada. Shelley joined Hamilton Public Library (HPL) in 2018 to lead communications and community engagement initiatives for the system. Prior to joining HPL, she built and managed brands for agencies, non-profit organizations and corporations. Shelley serves on community and professional association Boards and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
