In a Dementia- Friendly Community,  people living with dementia are included and have choice and control over their day-to-day lives and level of engagement. Today, 220,000 people are living with dementia in Ontario. How can you ensure your programs are inclusive and accessible for those living with dementia? How can you incorporate dementia-friendly strategies? A Dementia-Friendly Community is a place where people living with dementia are understood, respected and supported. In a Dementia- Friendly Community,  people living with dementia are included and have choice and control over their day-to-day lives and level of engagement. With inclusive programming, services and appropriate communication and accessibility strategies in place, libraries can be a valued service and community hub for people living with dementia and their care partners.
